Listed below are titles and descriptions of some of the services offered by DMCLHR. This is to give you a feel for the differeces of similer jobs and what is involved for some of the larger projects such as corn blasting. The photos below are from jobs performed by DMCLHR in the past and show decent before and after images so you will have an idea of what the outcome of each job can look like when complete.

The three bottom log tiers are rotted on the outside and need to be repaired.Using speacialized tools, the outside of the logs can be removed without taking out an entire wall.Log slabs are then placed over the exposed areas and then finished off with matching stain.
Corn Cob Blasting

One of the primer services offered by DMCLHR, Corn Cob Blasting is the best method of removing old finish from a log home both completely and ecologically friendly. Using ground up corn cobs, corn blasting is much like sand blasting in the sense that an abrasive aggregate is being released under pressure and stripping away a surface. Completely biodegradable and softer than sand make this natural product an ideal choice for removing old finishes entirely and clean.
Rot Repair

Often times water run off and splash back can cause serious damage to lower lying logs and wood in general. Normally with full depth logs, only the outside layer gets rotted out. With the proper tools, these outside layers can be cut out and replaced with what are called log slabs or half logs. This process repairs only the rotted portion of the log, saving from costly removal of sometimes an entire wall replacement. As shown, it is impossible to tell the difference between a full log and a slab once they have been put into place and a coat of stain has been applied.
Log Replacement

One of the most labor intensive services provided by DMCLHR, log replacement is done only when either water or structural damage cannot be fixed on the surface and must be taken out. Depending on the severity of the damage and its location within the wall or structure, the replacement can sometimes involve taking out an entire wall and rebuilding from the sub-floor up. This of course is the worst cased scenario, but years of neglect and/or oversight can cause havoc with biodegradable materials.
Caulking and Chinking

Practically the same action, caulking or chinking is the filling of seams between the logs. This is to prevent air, water and even insects to get in between the logs and cause damage. The difference between caulking and chinking is simply material. The chinking has more of a mortar texture to it, which gives an old time western look to it. Caulking is much smoother and blends in with the log finish easier. Caulking and/or chinking is a very important part keeping your cabin insulated and structurally sound.
Staining and Refinishing

Staining is the process of taking a bare house or log cabin with no finish on it and applying two to three coats of stain to help protect it from the elements. Normally strait forward and easy. Refinishing is taking a structure with a finish already applied, cleaning it up and applying a fresh coat or two of stain. Most of the time this is a strait forward process as well.
Carpentry

The carpentry aspect of DMCLHR ranges from basic small decks to full exterior renovations.  Porches, siding, garages and roofing are some of the carpentry services DMCLHR is capable of taking on.
